Facilities at Fourpaws Hydrotherapy in Snettisham
Here at Fourpaws Canine Hydrotherapy & Rehabilitation in Snettisham, Kings Lynn we have recently added a brand new Underwater treadmill which will cover all of your canine rehabilitation conditions.
The Underwater Treadmill
The underwater treadmill is a valuable modality in veterinary rehabilitation due to its hydrotherapy benefits. Hydrotherapy involves the therapeutic use of water to promote healing and rehabilitation in animals. The buoyancy of the water reduces weight-bearing on the joints, allowing for controlled and low-impact movement. This can be especially beneficial for dogs recovering from orthopaedic surgeries, such as cruciate ligament repair, spinal patients as well as those with degenerative joint diseases like Osteoarthritis and IVDD
Furthermore, the resistance provided by the water challenges the muscles, promoting strength and endurance gains. The hydrostatic pressure of the water also aids in reducing swelling and improving circulation, which can enhance the healing process.
Overall, the underwater treadmill serves as a valuable tool in veterinary rehabilitation for improving mobility, increased muscle function, range of motion and overall quality of life for canine patients. The water also has therapeutic effects and aids in pain reduction and reduced inflammation For the more athletic dogs who dabble in the world of agility, flyball and other working events it’s a valuable tool for peak fitness and maintaining and increasing muscle tone.
This is all achieved due to the resistance of the water as well as having an incline facility on the underwater treadmill which increases intensity greatly.
Let me introduce Sofie
Sofie will be looking after the day to day care and running of the Snettisham branch and will be on hand to answer or give any information you may need.
A little about Sofie in her own words
I own a loopy weimeraner and have an endless love for beagles, not to mention my love for ponies too, basically sums me up. I had worked with horses for 12 years before starting my canine career and through my years of studying Bioveterinary science at Hartpury University, I quickly became very interested in biomechanics and anatomy. I thoroughly invested my extra time studying more about therapies and the way it enhances an animals life. My lecturer pointed me down the hydrotherapy route which determined my dissertation choice which was the effects of hydrotherapy on canines suffering from degenerative diseases and hip dysplasia. The benefits of watching dogs progressively improve their condition through my work is the most rewarding thing there is. Fourpaws has definitely fulfilled my passion in the animal industry.
